Le Prix A Payer Movie Premiere Night, See All The Pictures

Monday June 29, 2009 12:49 PM

Last night was the grand premiere of Mora Etienne's Movie Le Prix A Payer and I have all the pictures to show you.

When the limousines pulled up in front of Muvico Palace in Boca Raton Florida, all the American movie goers were standing in line wondering what was happening.

"It's a Haitian movie premiere, sir," I replied to the gentleman coming out of the movie theater with his family.

The Miami Herald was not there to cover such a great Haitian event, even though they are the first to arrive at the beach when it's the other way around.

My Haitian people were dressed to kill, looking all good, and the filled up the theater's lobby.

One would think that Mora Etienne rented the entire Muvico Palace 20 in Boca Raton for his event.

I wish I could tell you that everyone in the lobby was happy to be there but I would be wrong.

Movie Premiere, Le Prix A PayerThere were complaints about protocol.

Not everyone was happy to stand in the lobby for over an hour waiting for the limousine to arrive, especially considering that most of them were VIPs and should have been seated as soon as they arrived.

Usually I leave out the bad news but there was a substantial amount of complaints about Protocol.  I hope that the staff will come out on record to tell us what happened.

Also, there was a huge melting pot in the lobby and I didn't know who was who. I usually try to catch a picture of every Bellywood star at the event "Qui on fait le deplacement" but I am sorry to say that I might have missed a few.

I spoke to Mora about it, and he was a bit upset, telling me that there was a technical problem that the staff of Muvico insisted on resolving before they allowed access to Theater 11 where the grand premiere was to take place.

Now that I got that out of the way, let me tell you what happened once everyone was inside

Once they rolled the red carpet, it was show time.

Mora Junior Etienne and the entire cast of the movie arrived and headed for Theater 11.

We all sat down, some us sipping our wine and toasting to Mora, it was show time.

You know I don't talk about movies but I have to admit, the editor did a great job editing the small part I play in the movie with Papa Pie.

Movie Premiere, Le Prix A PayerI mean... here I am sitting around in the back yard playing dominoes with a bunch of guys, and a superstar I admired going up in Haiti, then the next thing I know I am on the big screen at Muvico Paradise, looking like an actor.

Wow, Amazing!!!

Look at all the Movie Premiere Photos here, click on
Le Prix A Payer Movie Premiere Photos

As I watch the movie, I usually scan the room to get the reaction of the public.

It looks to me like everyone was very pleased with the movie. I heard a lot of laughs, and a lot of comments about the film as it was playing.

If you were there, I am sure you will give your honest opinion about what you saw so that the public can have an idea of what to expect.

What can I say about the movie without sounding like a fanatic?

When you watch Le Prix A Payer you will discover that

  1. Just because your man doesn't say the right words, it doesn't necessarily mean he does not love you.
  2. You should take Tropicana's advice and "Renmen Moun Ki Renmen-w"
  3. The stupid guy you know is not as dumb as you might think.
  4. Afe Flanne Femel la se yon realite... Hate it... Love it... Get used to it.

Movie Premiere, Le Prix A PayerThe other thing that I must bring to your attention is the fact that "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" was playing right next door to us!

Mwen pat rayi sa-a ditou!

After the party is the after party!

The after party for the grand premiere of Le Prix A Payer was held at the Embassy Suite Hotel in Boca Raton Florida.

I really wish that every one who attended the grand premiere would be able to attend but it was late, Sunday night, and some people decided to head home right after seeing the movie.

Too bad for them because I ate all the food that and I had less competition.

Ok Seriously...

Movie Premiere, Le Prix A PayerI always love it when I am in the company of people I consider to be the VIPs of Haitian society... I believe that I met quite a few of them them at the grand premiere.

I don't want to say any more and I would you like you... if you were there... to give us your honest opinion about

1) the event,
2) the movie, and
3) the performance of the actors in the movie

So go ahead, post your comments and then take a look at all the photos taken at the grand premiere of Le Prix A Payer.

Kacendre Belizaire, A New Star Is Born

Sunday June 28, 2009 11:58 AM

There is a young actress name Kacendre Belizaire who will be making a big entrance in Bellywood, the Haitian Movie Industry, soon.

If you a movie fan and you don't know who she is, believe me, you will because Kacendre is making her movie debut as the lead actress in a movie.

And she portrays a pretty powerfull character in the movie.

Discovered by filmmaker Herold Israel, Kacendre stand to be known as the new "Femme Fatale" of Haitian Cinema.

This young lady, Kacendre Belizaire, a native of Ouanaminthe Haiti, may become the pride of her hometown.

Ok... Woody... Poze... Poukisa tout pale anpil sa-a... Relax ti mal...

Bon se pa fot mwen, I've seen the movie.

Last night, I have the privilege of attending the private screening of Collusion (M.I.A. 1), a new film by Herold Israel starring Kacendre Belizaire.

I cannot tell you what the movie is about, sometimes I tend to talk to much.  Instread I will tell you all about when I receive official information package from the staff of Kulturmax Movie Factory.

Stay tuned to Belfim, soon you will get a chance to see a clip from the movie.

As soon as we receive the Colusion movie clip, we will let you know.

Typecasting, Hollywood Hates It, Bellwood Love It

Sunday June 28, 2009 09:29 AM

It is no secret that there is a big conflict in the production of the Haitian movie REMO 3 and it looks like the problem is making it's way to Belfim.

What is the problem you ask?

Simple really, if I can put it that way, Georges Balezines who plays the role of Pe Joj in both REMO and REMO 2 will not appear in REMO 3.

What?

REMO with no Pe Joj?

No not exactly... It's funny how I intended to write a completely different article and I was led this way instead...

Oh Hell...

Pe Joj, is a character in a movie, and that character is still in the movie however it will be played by someone else, not Georges Balezines.

This switch is not not easy to swallow in Haitian films especially when most of the Haitian actors are "typecasted", something that big Hollywood actors try to avoid at all cost.

Typecasting is the process by which a film, TV, or stage actor is strongly identified with a specific character or a particular role.

There have been instances in which an actor has been so strongly identified with a role that it becomes very difficult for him or her to find work playing other characters.

For example, in Hollywood when you think of William Shatner you think of Captain Kirk in original Star Trek series.

The same is true in Bellywood, the Haitian movie industry, We have a bunch of Tontons and PEs in the industry, Tonton Nord, Tonton Dezirab, Tonton Bicha, Pe Toma, Pe Joj, Papa Pie, Baba.

They are all my friend by the way and I am not trying to judge them, I am simply raising a question and hope that we, at Belfim, can have an intelligent conversation about it.

Here are the questions that I hope you can help me answer today

  • Why is Typecasting so prominent in Bellywood, the Haitian Movie Industry?
  • Is Typecasting good or bad for Haitian cinema?
  • How did typecasting become so popular in Bellywood?

I can't wait to hear your comments.

Can Gazmann Couleur Act?

Monday June 22, 2009 06:33 PM

There is a new movie coming out soon called Le Peche et le Pardon and Haitian Singer Gazzman Couleur is in it.

Gazmann Pierre AKA Gazzman Couleur is the lead singer of the Haitian band Nu Look

I was talking about the movie to a friend the other day and he asks me:

Gazzman Couleur... Can Gazzman Couleur act?

This is something you will have to find out at the Grand Premiere, August 15 2009 if you live in South Florida; this is the date that the movie Le Peche Et Le Pardon will be playing at California Theaters / Cinema 6 in North Miami

Have you seen the trailer?

I have been a fan of Gazzman Couleur since living in Spring Valley NY and a friend of mine brought me a live tape of the group D-Zine.

You remember D-Zine don't you?

Konnye-a se Nu Look...

I think you will agree with me that Gazman couleur is a great singer

But this is Belfim... here we talk about cinema and here we raise a different type of question:

Can Gazzman Couleur act?

Mwen konnen nou... tale nou pral di Woody di Gazmann Pa Ka Act... pou-m klarifie-l se yon keksyon, e pa yon komnante

Can Gazman couleur act?

Gazmann se yon neg ki gan anpil talan, eske acting se yonn ladan yo?

Find out on Saturday August 15 if you live in Miami

If you live in Haiti, Cap Haitien to be exact, you ill have a change to see Gazman Couleur on the big screen on from the 2nd to the 5th of July because Le Peche et le Pardon will have its Haiti premiere in Cap Haitien.

In a future article I will tell you what the movie is about but for the time being, I just felt like creating controversy on Befim.

M-ka jere ti sa-a... LOL...

I wanted to let all the D-zine and Nu look fans out there know that your favorite superstar Gazzman Couleur is in a new Haitian movie and...

You will have the opportunity to discover another side of Gazzman that you didn't know even existed.

Couleur Nan Bellywood!

Rete Branche, more info coming soon about the movie "Le Peche et le Pardon" but in the mean time...

Go and watch the Le Peche et le Pardon Movie Trailer now
