Fabienne Colas & The Montreal International Black Film Festival

Fabienne Colas & The Montreal International Black Film Festival

You probably heard about the Montreal International Black Film Festival and you are asking yourself what does it have to do with Haitian actress Fabienne Colas.

Well... Let's just say we are slowly extracting the word Haitian and substituting it with words like Caribbean,  Black, and International...

Tu Compris?... LOL...

We are beginning to help others succeed... We are beginning to leave our front door open and allow others to come in... and... It's about time!

I've always said that one of the reasons our Haitian culture remains a secret from the rest of the world is because we keep our culture to ourselves and we don't share it with the rest of the world.

We love to eat Pork Fried Rice but Pork Fried Rice dont eat no GRIOT!!!

We love Les Chansonettes Francaises but Les Chansonettes Francaises dont dance no Konpa!!!

Haitian music is the best music in the Caribbean and Haitian food is the most delicious food in the world and guess what?

Only Haitians and a few people know that... why?

I don't know about Haitian food and Haitian music but... Haitians cinema is going global and Fabienne Colas is doing her part to make it happen.

What is the Montreal International Black Film Festival?

First watch this video interview of Fabienne Colas talking about the Montreal International Black Film Festival and why it was founded.

Thanks Movie Lakay...

Here it is as posted on festivalfilmhaitien.com:

"The Montreal International Black Film Festival wants to promote a different kind of cinema, cinema that hails from here or from abroad and that does not necessarily have the opportunity to grace the big screen, groundbreaking cinema that moves us, that raises awareness and takes us all by surprise!

The Montreal International Black Film Festival wants to deal with issues and present works that raise questions, that provoke, that make us smile, that leave us perplexed, that shock us... A fresh, new look at black cinema from the four corners of the globe!!!"

Five years ago, Haitian actress Fabienne Colas and her foundation came up with the Montreal international Haitian film festival and last month she inaugurated the Montreal International Black Film Festival  And it seems that all future Haitian film festivals in Montreal will run under the banner of the MIBFF.

We cannot force the world to see us but... If we make ourselves available to serve the rest of the world, I guarantee you, they will see a lot more than they bargain for.

Congratulations Fabienne, I am very proud of you.

My name is Woodring Saint Preux and I said it.
