I recall in a recent keynote speech, my good friend and motivational speaker Rene Godefroy mentioned that the darker your night the brighter your stars.

Rene, my friend, you should see the stars at night on the beach of Jacmel with thousands of my Haitian brothers and sisters gathered peacefully to get a taste of their Haitian culture.

It's to die for!

Before I went to the Jacmel film festival, I was thinking about moving back to Haiti. Now that "ti woch goute graisse" I am moving back to Haiti, period. I need Haiti and Haiti needs me.

I've been told that Jacmel is a beautiful place to visit but nothing prepared me for this surprise.

After all, Haitian movie producer Wilkenson Bruna has been bragging about Jacmel for so long I had to find out for myself just how great it really was.

Before I tell you what a wonderful time I had in Jacmel, I would like to give a word of praise to the entire staff of the Jacmel film festival and to the authorities and government officials who run this city.

Now I am convinced that Haiti can change if only enough people create activities like the Jacmel Film festival a few times a year in various parts of the country.

But most importantly all the local government officials in other parts of Haiti should follow Jacmel's lead in the way they guarantee the security of their citizens and tourists.

I spent a few nights in Jacmel and I felt safe.

Here are a couple of thinks I want to bring to your attention:

1 - You have go next year to the Jacmel film festival<br />2 - Make early hotel reservations as hotels fill up very quickly this time of year<br />3 - You do not need a body guard

Yes Haiti is a poor country but that's not all you need to know about your country. We are rich in history, we are very talented, and we are extremely artistic, and we are still free.

I've never been to Jacmel before and I will admit to you today that my visit this year will not be the last.

I was there for the first part of the film festival, besides a few technical difficulties the festivities was nothing short of amazing. Festival banners were hanging all around town and there were festival posters everywhere I turned.

The staff of the film festival was the most professional I've seen thus far. Sadly I could not stay for the entire festival but I've been told that the ending was even better then the beginning.

If this sounds like a big ad for Jacmel and the Jacmel film festival let me tell you that it is well deserved.
