This film festival , the CineAyiti International Film Festival, is being organized by the "Sotuma International Film and Television Academy of Haiti (SIFTAH)" in Cap-Haitien, an academy formed "as part of our contribution to Africans for Haiti Solidarity Program," says founder Bubacarr A. Sankanu, in an email sent to Belfim.com

This is news to me, perhaps to you to...

I was not aware that there was a Haitian cinema movement in Cap-Haitien....

Now... the talk of a Film Festival... That's a great reason to visit O'Cap... Cap Haitien cherie, peyi Smoye Noisy, like Richie says in his new song...

Here is the film festival announcement as posted on the SIFTAH website:

Festival Theme: Cinema and National Recovery

The critics would say it is too early for a film festival in Haiti. The Berlin International Film Festival was started at a time when Germany was still littered with World War II rubble.

The CineAyiti International Film Festival intends to not just help expose the hidden creative talents of Haiti but also provoke discourse on the role of cinema in national recovery after a disaster.

The CineAyaiti Festival will start on a very modest footing and the revenue generated through sponsorships and patronage will be used to support the growth of the Haitian Cinema talents.
